L'il Abner... Coming Soon to DVD!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm almost done editing, I only have two scenes left, neither of which require serious editing.  Tomorrow I'll be burning DVDs, all day to get them ready for Wednesday.  Thanks to everyone who ordered their copy of Lil Abner and for supporting the drama club.

After I edit these last two scenes, the only thing left is watching all of the edited scenes to make sure I'm not missing anything and to get them in the correct order.  I'm still fighting a nasty cold and sinus issues, so depending on how I feel, I will either do that tonight or have to get up early tomorrow morning.  Because the videos are so high quality, there won't be any room for the special features I talked about.  In fact, I'm having to reduce the quality on some scenes just to insure that they all fit in the 4.7GB DVD-R.  I also have to leave room for the DVD menu, sadly it can't be awesome like animated with video and sound because that takes up so much space.  I'll try to make it as cool as possible with the limited space I have.

Summary
Ordered as of 5/20/2010
Stacey(Ali) – 2 DVD
Stubbles – 5 DVD
Moser – 1 DVD
Carter – 4 DVD
Vitelli – 1 DVD
Boothe – 2 DVD

Asha - 2 DVDs
Kyle Klair – 2 DVDs
Angela Lamborn 4 DVD (PD)
Katrina 4 DVDs--34

This list will also show those of you who have paid either Mr. Celfo or Ms. Knowles.  Thanks to everyone who ordered, these DVDs will earn over $200 for the drama club to use in the future, which is great! If for some reason you ordered a DVD, but your name doesn't show up on the list, you MUST e-mail me IMMEDIATELY so I burn enough DVDs for everyone. Once again, my e-mail address is megbrownkmai@verizon.net

I AM NOT MAKING ANY EXTRAS! THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!!! You have until 3:00 PM tomorrow to contact me!

Sunday, May 16, 2010

So I didn't quite make my deadline of finishing today, but I made good progress. I'm getting up at 7 tomorrow so I can edit the last couple of big scenes & then I have a few short scenes to check as well. The credits are already typed and I've started designing the DVD menu.

In other news, my cat Lucky discovered the washing machine for the 1st time today, we've only been here 3 months. Exciting huh?

I'll post another update tomorrow to keep everyone informed.

Thanks,

Happening This Week 5/10

So there are 2 big things happening tomorrow. Months after moving into my new casa, our furniture finslly arrives. As this pic demonstrates, having nothing but cushions is just sad.

But there's a 2nd thing, far more important than sofas. One of my closest friends (and drama club alum) Kim Cibroski is having major brain surgery in less than 7 hours. I ask that everyone keep her in your thoughts tomorrow as we wish her well on what will be a long & painful recovery.

As you have probably noticed, I've finally started editing scenes. previews will be/are viewable on the ghs drama club facebook group. Please spread the word and check them out. I always like input that could help me improve the DVDs.

Lil Abner Update

Wow, so it's April 9th.  When did that happen? And how?

I had planned to have the Lil Abner DVDs well under way by now and yet I'm only just starting to review my footage, making notes on what is good and what footage is so shaky it'd give anyone sea-sickness.  I am going to try and complete at least one scene this weekend, most likely the opening scene.  As with Footloose, I will upload the edited verison of every scene to my youtube account which you can find here

I will try and post updates more frequently as I'm now offically working on the Lil Abner DVDs.  Make sure to check here regularily.  Feel free to post any comments/questions/concerns that you have reguarding the DVDs.  Also, IT'S NOT TO LATE TO ORDER!!! If you haven't already done so please help support the drama club by ordering your copy of Lil Abner today!  The DVD will include some exclusive behind the scenes special features as well as a photo album.

New E-mail Address

I finally got my new verizon e-mail account setup.  If you have any questions/comments/concerns about ordering DVDs or whatever feel free to contact me here  Spring break is next week so I should have time to make some real progress on the Abner DVDs.

Happening This Week 3/21

Don't have much of anything to report this week.  In fact, I probably won't have any real time to work on anything until Spring Break, which I should probably find out when that is.

The only downside to going to a small college is viruses! Not 12 hours after my computer became virus free, I picked up a nasty stomach bug that knocked me on my *** for 3 days.  I've got to work extra hard this week to get caught up, so don't expect any big news reguarding Abner updates.

My comcast e-mail account is gone now and getting verizon to do anything is like getting blood from a rock.  As soon as I have a verizon account, I'll post my new e-mail address so you guys can contact me with any questions.

That's all for now
Stay tuned for more!

Happening This Week 3/14

I'm going to try and post updates weekly, which will all be titled "Happening This Week" and the date of the week.  I'll try to post them either late Sunday night or sometime Monday.

So, what is happening this week?
Well, for all of you KMAI folks, today is Mo's , I mean Mr. Mabrouk's birthday.  So happy birthday Mo, KMAI misses you.

So I've been in the "new" house for 8 days now, which is kind of hard to believe.  Our cats, Lucky and Duck-Duck are settling in well.  They've been having lots of fun exploring every room, closet, and drawer they encounter.  What's even harder to believe is that I haven't taken a single picture, which could possibly have something to do with not remembering where I packed all my camera gear.  I also can't find any of my three flashdrives, one of which has a virus so I wouldn't be using it even if I did know where it was.

It took the tech over 6 hours of work on Saturday in the pouring rain, but I finally have fios which should mean I have a new verizon e-mail address to share with everyone but it doesn't.  We're having so much trouble with verizon we got $240 off fios for the first year and if things continue the way they are right now, I foresee that amount rising in the near future.

I got a virus, well my computer did, which is always loads of fun so I haven't even been able to see how much faster fios makes the internet run on my computer.  Good news? The DCAD tech guy Bates told me he'd fix it tomorrow and it should only take him a couple of minutes.  Bad news? Almost all of my Abner pictures and videos are on that computer so if something goes wrong, it isn't going to be pretty.

Speaking of Abner, barring any more computer problems or a sudden unexpected massive DCAD assignment, I will probably have time to start reviewing and organizing all my footage this weekend.  If I don't have too much homework, which I sadly doubt, I may even start editing the first scene.  I'll be sure to keep everyone informed though so stay tuned.

That's pretty much it for now,
I have to get back to work before my paint acrylic paint dries on my pallette and brushes for good.

I understand that some people are having trouble posting their orders here on the site so I've been working with Ms. Knowles to find a solution.

I'll be adding a "Contact Me" box hopefully by Monday with my e-mail address so you can contact me if you need help.  Until then, you may give your orders to Ms. Knowles at crzymom323@aol.com  and she will forward them to me.

L'il Abner DVD Order Form

Okay, just to reminder everyone: DVDs won't be available until MID MAY OR LATER. I'm posting the order form now so that you have plenty of time to place your order and also so that I have enough time to process them. I will not spend 70 some hours editing this DVD and then have 6 people order them. College is all about time management and I will be giving up what little free time that I do have to edit these DVDs.

I will start editing once I have at least 10 orders (meaning 10 DVDs) but won't complete it unless 25 DVDs are ordered.

Here is the order form. Simply copy and paste the below form and place it in your comment to this post. All fields must be completed unless marked otherwise. Mr. Celfo and I thank you for your support of the Glasgow High School Drama Club.

L'il Abner DVD Information

Let me start off by congratulating the entire cast and crew of L'il Abner. Some people ask me how I can sit through the same show 3 times in a row and my answer is simple: because they do such an amazing job I enjoy each performance more than the previous. I always am amazed when reviewing the raw footage of the performances at the little things I miss because there truly never is a dull moment.

While I am satisfied with the footage I've taken over the past two days, I am always looking for more because I know they had an entirely different focus while filming their friend or child. So once again, I'm asking anyone who recorded any of the productions and who is willing to let me copy their footage (even if it's just a few scenes) to please come forward and help make this DVD the best one yet. Not only do you receive a free copy of the DVD, but this year I also will be putting together an exclusive Bonus Features section only for Mr. Celfo and the people who lend me footage.

As far as ordering DVDs goes, I will be posting an order form soon which you can complete and post right here. I will be setting a deadline for ordering, which will probably be some time in April.

Some people have already asked me how payment will work. You will have a few options: first, for the members of this year's production and their families, you can pay for the DVDs the day they will be available for pick-up, at the annual Drama Club Banquet.

Haven't told Celfo about this option yet, but hopefully he'll be okay with it. You can pay in advance by placing your exact change or a check made out to the Glasgow High School Drama Club in a sealed envelope along with your name and a valid e-mail address and placing it in Mr. Celfo's mailbox.

If you do not currently attend GHS, there is an option for you as well. You will have to mail your envelope addressed to Mr. Celfo to the school with your name, valid e-mail address, and exact change/ check inside.

That's all I can think of at the moment, please contact me if you have any questions/comments/concerns.

Thanks to everyone for their interest in purchasing your copy of L'il Abner.

Happening This Week

So this week (of Feburary 21, 2010) is going to be insanely busy. In addition to my usual full load of assignments from my classes at DCAD, I will be tackling two huge tasks (one of which is the reason I created this blog). This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I will be returning to Glasgow High School to film the drama club's annual production of a play. This will be my third year filming the play, and second year taking on the enormous task of creating a HQ DVD of the production and making copies for everyone that orders them.

I've created this blog to provide everyone who orders a DVD updated with my latest progress, which will eventually include when and where they will be available for pick-up.

As I stated last year, I take this job very seriously, as the finished product can be placed into my art portfolio when I apply to transfer to an art school after completing 4 semesters at DCAD.

On average, I'm hoping to have 3 cameras going all three nights, which amounts to 9 full length performances of Lil Abner. Scene by scene, frame by frame I compose a master version with the very best sound and picture coverage of every minute of the play. Once again, I would like to warn everyone in advance that this process takes MONTHS and that you should expect your copy of the finished DVD NO SOONER THAN MID MAY!!!!!

There's also a second major event happening this week. After 31 years of living in the first home she ever bought, my mother, myself, and two cats are moving from Newark to Wilmington. My brother, a junior at UD, has already moved into an apartment a few minutes away from campus and his job.

That's all for now, check back often for updates on what I'm working on.
