L'il Abner... Coming Soon to DVD!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm almost done editing, I only have two scenes left, neither of which require serious editing.  Tomorrow I'll be burning DVDs, all day to get them ready for Wednesday.  Thanks to everyone who ordered their copy of Lil Abner and for supporting the drama club.

After I edit these last two scenes, the only thing left is watching all of the edited scenes to make sure I'm not missing anything and to get them in the correct order.  I'm still fighting a nasty cold and sinus issues, so depending on how I feel, I will either do that tonight or have to get up early tomorrow morning.  Because the videos are so high quality, there won't be any room for the special features I talked about.  In fact, I'm having to reduce the quality on some scenes just to insure that they all fit in the 4.7GB DVD-R.  I also have to leave room for the DVD menu, sadly it can't be awesome like animated with video and sound because that takes up so much space.  I'll try to make it as cool as possible with the limited space I have.

Lil Abner Update

Wow, so it's April 9th.  When did that happen? And how?

I had planned to have the Lil Abner DVDs well under way by now and yet I'm only just starting to review my footage, making notes on what is good and what footage is so shaky it'd give anyone sea-sickness.  I am going to try and complete at least one scene this weekend, most likely the opening scene.  As with Footloose, I will upload the edited verison of every scene to my youtube account which you can find here

I will try and post updates more frequently as I'm now offically working on the Lil Abner DVDs.  Make sure to check here regularily.  Feel free to post any comments/questions/concerns that you have reguarding the DVDs.  Also, IT'S NOT TO LATE TO ORDER!!! If you haven't already done so please help support the drama club by ordering your copy of Lil Abner today!  The DVD will include some exclusive behind the scenes special features as well as a photo album.

Okay, just to reminder everyone: DVDs won't be available until MID MAY OR LATER. I'm posting the order form now so that you have plenty of time to place your order and also so that I have enough time to process them. Happening This Week

So this week (of Feburary 21, 2010) is going to be insanely busy. In addition to my usual full load of assignments from my classes at DCAD, I will be tackling two huge tasks (one of which is the reason I created this blog). This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I will be returning to Glasgow High School to film the drama club's annual production of a play. This will be my third year filming the play, and second year taking on the enormous task of creating a HQ DVD of the production and making copies for everyone that orders them.

I've created this blog to provide everyone who orders a DVD updated with my latest progress, which will eventually include when and where they will be available for pick-up.

As I stated last year, I take this job very seriously, as the finished product can be placed into my art portfolio when I apply to transfer to an art school after completing 4 semesters at DCAD.

On average, I'm hoping to have 3 cameras going all three nights, which amounts to 9 full length performances of Lil Abner. Scene by scene, frame by frame I compose a master version with the very best sound and picture coverage of every minute of the play. Once again, I would like to warn everyone in advance that this process takes MONTHS and that you should expect your copy of the finished DVD NO SOONER THAN MID MAY!!!!!

There's also a second major event happening this week. After 31 years of living in the first home she ever bought, my mother, myself, and two cats are moving from Newark to Wilmington. My brother, a junior at UD, has already moved into an apartment a few minutes away from campus and his job.

That's all for now, check back often for updates on what I'm working on.
